Position Overview
Avero's Director of Marketing is responsible for ensuring that Avero as well as our products and solutions are positioned for success in the marketplace. The Director of Marketing will lead the marketing function combining individual contribution with team development and blending strategic thinking with tactical execution. This position is responsible for understanding the needs of Avero's customers and prospects, articulating distinct value propositions for each of Avero's existing products, and identifying unmet needs in the market where Avero should consider adding new functionality or launching new products. This is a high profile position both internally and externally – the right candidate will be a spokesperson for the company as well as providing cross functional leadership across marketing, sales, and product development.
Responsibilities
Lead and execute the end-to-end corporate marketing strategy
Evangelize our solutions and best practices to our customers, industry peers, forums and tradeshows to continue to
build awareness of the Avero brand
Manage ongoing changes to product implementation in response to conducting competitive analysis of marketplace
and products; contribute to development of future product roadmap
Develop a market research and marketing/promotional plan, to support the organization with respect to strategic
decisions for existing products and new opportunities
Interface with Account Managers and Sales to identify and address product issues and opportunities related to the
market
Leverage existing products for the customers ROI and Avero's profitability, lead development of new products, help
to champion marketing efforts and identify potential business partnerships or acquisition prospects
Gather, define, prioritize and communicate requirements and new product developments throughout the
organization and creating customer feedback loop to ensure that Avero's products satisfy user needs and that the
company is well positioned in the market
Work closely with Avero's Product Management function to design new and enhance existing products
Work hand-in-hand in a cross-functional capacity with the CEO, President, product development team and account
management to develop a consensus on product requirements, taking into consideration business, legal, customer
care, consumer and technical issues
Lead our PR and marketing efforts by establishing a marketing calendar and running Avero networking events, user
groups, and event sponsorships (i.e. Food & Wine show, regional dinners, culinary tours, etc)
Manage website content and messaging; write press releases; oversee coordinated events
Lead and manage the Marketing team to execute Avero's overall marketing strategy
Requirements
Minimum 4 years experience working with software development, product management, and product marketing
management
Must possess outstanding writing skills in order to translate, articulate and communicate ideas and solutions
Experience deploying and supporting Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions
Bachelor degree required, MBA preferred
Past Experience working with Product Development, Sales and Customers to define new products, features and
functionality based on market needs and determining product pricing
Creative and strategic thinking with good business sense
Proven analytical and communication skills and the ability to identify customer needs and communicate them to
constituents
Previous experience with a small-medium sized software company
Ability to demonstrate expertise in core areas of the software development lifecycle including: market needs
analysis, requirements and functional specification development, project management, etc.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving
technical environment
